People say that kids don't get educated well today. If that's the case, whose fault is it? The teachers, the parents, the environment, something else? I'm of the opinion best expressed in a comic strip of my youth, Pogo: "We've seen the enemy and he is us." How many of us have actually gone to a PTA meeting, or volunteered to help in a classroom, or even spent a significant amount of our time helping with our kids homework? I'd venture to say relatively few.
If we want quality education for our kids, it's incumbent on us to take an active role in helping to reach that goal.
